Portfolio CV FAQ

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about our Portfolio CV service

What is a Portfolio CV?

CV Master Careers has designed a portfolio which is an exciting and unique way of displaying your achievements and success. We will collate details of all your significant accomplishments and exhibit them in a professional display book which you can then take with you to meetings or interviews.

We can create both online and offline versions of your portfolio. All documents are printed on a choice of Conqueror paper. You will receive an electronic copy of your portfolio in Microsoft Word 2003 (.doc) and Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) formats on a CD. We will also prepare a hard copy for you to use.

How does the service work?

You will receive a full personal consultation so that we can assess what information you potential employers will be looking for. We will then work together to collate evidence of your achievements. Once we have the items you wish to include we will create a draft portfolio for your approval. Once approved we will send you electronic and hard copies of your portfolio.

Why do I need a portfolio CV?

Having a portfolio CV to show potential employers will demonstrate your initiative, motivation and organisation as well as proving you are serious about getting the job. It will show that you have prepared thoroughly, you are keen and that you have skills in your selected area.

Why can't I make one myself?

You can, but we have the facilities, expertise and experience to do it better. We can provide an electronic version as a pdf document which permits the collation of many file types into one professional looking document. We will design and compile the whole document, ensuring that your portfolio is exclusive to you and displays your skills to maximum effect, giving you extra confidence.

What do I get?

You will have your own display book with all of your information inside as well as an electronic version which can be sent easily by email. The service includes a full initial consultation, during which we will gather all details of your achievements and work history. We will also collate evidence of your skills and create a professional display. Postage and printing are included and there are no hidden extras at the end of the service.

Who is it suitable for?

We have found that portfolios can be used by anyone to significantly improve their chances at interview.

If you have just left School, College or University then a portfolio is an excellent way of displaying all of your academic and extracurricular achievements. It can also help you to organise your accomplishments if you are thinking of going to University, which will help with your UCAS application.

The portfolio is a powerful self marketing tool, especially if you have many achievements. If your CV is longer than two pages then this service would be ideal for you. We find that with high level vacancies interviewers are increasingly looking for something extra. if you have worked on many significant projects we can provide the details in a portfolio to ensure your application has the maximum impact.

Some professions such as Nursing are now formally incorporating portfolios into their job application processes. We are well placed to assist you to prepare portfolios such as the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Portfolio. We chargea reduced rate to nursing staff.

How can it help me?

By using a portfolio in an interview situation you can draw attention to all of your relevant work experience and achievements. it can be particularly useful if you suffer with nerves or find it difficult to "sell yourself" at interview. Once your interviewer looks through your portfolio, they may find that some of the questions they intended to ask you have already been answered, leaving you free to highlight your most significant achievements.
